Start with the question
Certification, explained.
Understand the claim, the Owner’s part in the process, and how anyone can check a certificate.
What does GRRC certification address?
GRRC addresses a narrow claim about reasoning integrity and the genuineness of a certificate. The exact claim and its limitations are stated in The Claim. Certification is not a general endorsement of a robot or its maker.
Does certification mean a robot is safe or makes good decisions?
No. It does not establish that the robot’s decisions are correct or wise, that the Owner’s rules are sufficient, or that the robot is safe, secure, defect-free or compliant with the full Law catalog. Read the complete bounded claim before relying on a result.
How do registration, certification and verification differ?
Registration establishes a robot identity and its authorized relationship in GRRC’s records. Certification requires the applicable evidence, evaluation and a certifier-signed artifact. Verification checks signed material. A registry listing helps locate the public record; it asserts membership, not current validity.
An account, a paired robot record or a passing evaluation is not a certificate. Follow the certification journey for the stages in order.
Can I have my robot certified now?
Owner registration and certification credit purchasing are open through the separate Owner application. A certification request requires the applicable robot identity and evidence, evaluation and a separate certifier ceremony. Registration and payment do not issue a certificate.
Anonymous public verification remains a separate, free service. See current status for service availability and the distinction from the earlier Staging demonstration.
Is GRRC limited to one maker or one kind of robot?
GRRC’s role is to certify the specified property, rather than endorse a particular product or maker. Eligibility depends on the applicable Certification Profile, identity and evidence requirements. No universal hardware compatibility or manufacturer approval is implied. See company and fleet questions.
Does one certificate cover every robot of the same model?
No. The certification process binds the result to an admitted robot identity. Shared model information does not turn one robot’s certificate into certification of other units. A UUID also does not, by itself, prove a particular physical chassis or legal ownership.
Can GRRC control or disable a robot?
No. GRRC certification is informational and reputational. It provides no remote command or shutdown channel. The robot’s own integrity protections are a separate matter; a certificate cannot force a blocked decision to run. See the control boundary.
Can anyone check a certificate without an account?
Yes. Public verification is free and requires no account or sign-in. Use the robot UUID supplied with the certification at the existing verification service. The browser walkthrough explains the result and the independent offline path.
Does payment or service cancellation change certificate validity?
No. Payment and account standing concern service access. They cannot issue a certificate, alter an existing certificate’s validity or remove anonymous verification. Cancelling a service and requesting certificate withdrawal are different operations.
